September Reset: Week Two Check-In

This week has been one of those weeks where it feels like the hours keep slipping away. I wake up with a list in my head, and by the end of the day there are still things left undone. The house is not spotless. The laundry has piled up again. I am busy in a way that feels never ending. And yet, this is exactly why the September Reset matters.

It is not about checking every box or having a perfectly clean home. It is not about finding a magical free hour that does not exist. The reset is about noticing where I am in the middle of the chaos, choosing what deserves my energy, and allowing small meaningful rituals to remind me that I am still here and still moving forward.

Finding Joy in the Imperfect

I used to think celebrations or routines only counted if everything looked a certain way. The table had to be cleared, the decorations had to match, the plan had to be flawless. But this week reminded me that joy shows up even when things are messy.

The pumpkins on the table are simple, but they change the feeling in the room. They bring the season inside and remind me that life has rhythms beyond my to do list. A cake from the store will be just as sweet as a homemade one when my family gathers around it. Laughter will fill the space whether or not the floor has been swept.

And I think this is where many of us trip ourselves up. We hold back from enjoying the moment because we feel like the conditions are not perfect. We tell ourselves we will light the candle or invite the friends or set the table once everything else is handled. But if I have learned anything from this reset, it is that the moment will never wait. Sometimes we have to choose joy in the middle of the mess.

What I Am Choosing to Keep

The beauty of this reset is that it has shown me not just what to let go of, but what I want to hold onto.

This week I kept moving even when I felt tired, and that movement gave me more energy than I expected. I carved out little windows of time for what mattered most, instead of waiting for long stretches that never came. I added seasonal touches, a candle here, a pumpkin there, and it shifted the way I felt in my own home. These things grounded me and reminded me that small changes do add up.

And that is what I want to keep:

  • Movement that feels nourishing, not punishing.

  • Time that is protected, even if it is just a few minutes.

  • Rituals that make me feel rooted and cared for.

These are not huge changes, but they are steady anchors. They are the reason I keep coming back to this reset, even in the busiest weeks.

Your Own Reset Reflection

If you are reading this, maybe your week looked a lot like mine. Maybe you are busy, tired, and wondering if you are doing enough. I want to remind you that the reset is not about perfection. It is about choosing the things that actually make a difference and carrying them forward.

So take a moment with me:

What is one thing from this week that made you feel better, more grounded, or more yourself? What is one thing you want to keep as you move into the weeks ahead?

Because this is what makes the reset powerful, not the things we let go of but the things we decide are worth keeping.

Write it down, or share it in the comments. Your words might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
