 About Jennifer Youngren

Welcome to Pumpkin House Nutrition. I am Jennifer Youngren, MS, RD, a nutrition professional devoted to helping others build a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food. My approach blends evidence-based nutrition science, clinical experience, practical wisdom, and the belief that true nourishment supports the whole individual.

I hold a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Arkansas State University, two Bachelor of Science degrees in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, an Associate in Applied Science in Dietetic Technology from Suffolk County Community College, and a two year Certification in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management.

My professional experience includes supporting adolescents and adults in Mather Hospital’s Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Program and assisting veterans with individualized meal planning at the Northport VA Medical Center. I have also gained experience in clinical nutrition, food service systems, long term care, dialysis care, community nutrition, and patient education. These settings have shaped the way I view nutrition: not as a set of rigid rules, but as a deeply personal part of health, healing, access, culture, and daily life.

My journey has also been influenced by my years as a caregiver and my life as a mother of three. These experiences taught me compassion, adaptability, and the importance of meeting people where they are. Real life is complex, and nutrition should be realistic enough to fit into that complexity.

At Pumpkin House Nutrition, I believe food is more than fuel. It is information, connection, repair, comfort, and care. My goal is to help people understand their bodies with more curiosity and less shame. I stay rooted in research while honoring the human side of eating, because meaningful nutrition guidance has to support both biology and lived experience.

Whether you are rebuilding your relationship with food, navigating health concerns, or simply trying to feel more confident in how you nourish yourself, Pumpkin House Nutrition is a space where science and compassion meet.

Food is not something to fear. It is something to understand. And when knowledge reconnects people with their own wisdom, nutrition becomes a path toward healing, clarity, and care.
